ARCHITECTURAL
INSTITUTE OF BC
Walking Tours of Victoria
The Community
Arts Council of Greater Victoria has
been the start point for the
Architectural
Institute of
British Columbia’s (AIBC) “Summer
Walking Tours” for seven years now.
The tours are in July
and August, and cover six architectural perspectives
of the City of Victoria.

From 2008-2010,
architecture student Nathan Flach has been AIBC's tour guide,
offering six unique architectural perspectives of Victoria:
1. The Inner Harbour
2. The Site of Fort Victoria
3. Old Town & Chinatown
4. Ecclesiastical Architecture
5. Art Deco & Moderne in Victoria
6. James Bay
Tours occur once per day and begin at 1:00pm Tuesday through
Saturday
(no tours Sundays orMondays). Tours are available through Saturday,
August 28.
The cost is $5.00 cash per person and no sign-up is required
for groups of 1 to 15 people. Tours
1 through 5 meet and depart from the Community Arts Council office
in the Sussex
Courtyard at G6 – 1001 Douglas Street (corner
of Douglas & Broughton).
Tour 6 meets at the
Queen Victoria statue in front of the British Columbia Legislative
Buildings on Belleville Street.
Tours last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Visit www.aibc.ca for
full details.
Nathan is in his fourth year of the Master of Architecture program
at the University of Calgary
and has been leading summer architectural walking tours in Victoria
for the past three years. He
is excited to share his passion for local history and architecture
with visitors and residents alike.
Whether interested in Victoria’s history, its architecture,
or just spending a pleasant afternoon
exploring picturesque downtown Victoria, tour participants are
bound to learn something they
didn’t know before. They might even have a little fun while
doing so!

The AIBC is dedicated to excellence in the profession of architecture
for the benefit of its
membership, society and the environment. Through our many community
initiatives, professional
programs and partnerships with other professional organizations
throughout the province and
across the country, we strive to be effective and successful
ambassadors on behalf of the
profession, its practitioners and British Columbia.
