CACGV Celebrates its 40th Anniversary
For our 40th Anniversary Celebration we held a Garden Party on June 21st, 2008, at Gibson House in Oak Bay. We cannot express enough our appreciation for the warmth and generousity of the owners Jim Piercey, Patricia Walters and family in opening their home to the hundreds of people who participated, donated and attended the event that day.We were blessed with great weather, a huge turnout of over 400 people, and several VIP’s attending including Oak Bay Mayor Chris Causton, Dr. Keith Martin MP, Rob Fleming MLA, Oak Bay Councilor Pam Copley, View Royal Mayor Graham Hill, CACGV Past-President JC Scott and Canadian cultural icon Ted Harrison. The mansion and grounds were ablaze with a diversity of performers, dancers, musicians, a media arts room and a literary room with continual poetry readings and story telling. Door prizes were drawn for 26 winners and raffle prizes were awarded to seven people. Visitors relaxed and lingered around the estate to enjoy all that was available to them. All participants donated their time and spirit.

Gibson House
The Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria gives sincere thanks to all of the musicians, artists, dancers, poets, storytellers and media artists who created such a magical atmosphere at Gibson House and grounds. Thank you to Sheila Blake for organizing so many performances and Lily Wallace for spearheading the organization of the celebration. Our deepest thanks also to all of the sponsors in the community who gave so generously to make the celebration such a successful event.
